Your time
You can make an impact on neighborhood preservation by donating your time for any of the following future activities:
- participate in public meetings whose outcome might impact historic buildings
- talk to children about how buildings tell us stories about the past
- man the Historic Hyde Square table at a neighborhood event (Wake Up the Earth, Jamaica Plain World's Fair, etc.)
- create art or signage that tells a neighborhood history story
- post your research to the wiki
- door knock to educate neighbors about preservation
- help develop educational materials for the web and print
- help develop a marketing strategy
- write grants for child and adult educational programs
- research the neighborhood - dig through the archives at the Robert Treat Paine Estate, the State House, or the Boston Public Library
- help document the neighborhood through photos, words, or video
- start a discussion group to talk about neighborhood history
- share your preservation success story with a neighborhood newspaper.
